SUMMARY:Mighty Talks: Enemies No More with Adam Makos
DESCRIPTION:The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force’s monthly Mighty Talk series continue with Enemies No More where Adam Makos shares the remarkable true stories behind two of his books—his bestselling classic A Higher Call and his newest release\, Tidal Wave—both true tales of courage\, humanity\, and wartime enemies who became unlikely friends. This program will take place on November 19th at 11:00 am at the museum.\n\nThe program is free to the public\, but please register at https://forms.gle/umRQ81S9sW1ozneC6\n\nAbout the BooksTIDAL WAVE: The Pilots\, the Princess\, and the Enemy Ace: A True Story of Courage and Survival in WWII reveals the little-known aftermath of Operation Tidal Wave\, the daring August 1\, 1943\, low-level B-24 raid against the vital Ploesti oil fields in Romania. Through the experiences of downed American airmen\, Princess Ecaterina “Catherine” Caradja\, Romanian fighter ace Prince Constantine Cantacuzino and King Michael I\, Adam Makos explores the extraordinary acts of courage\, resistance and compassion that followed one of the costliest missions in American airpower history.\n\nThe New York Times bestseller A Higher Call recounts the remarkable encounter between American B-17 pilot Charlie Brown and German fighter ace Franz Stigler. With Brown’s badly damaged bomber struggling to return home\, Stigler made the extraordinary decision to spare the aircraft and escort it to safety. Decades later\, the former enemies reunited\, revealing a powerful true story of honor\, humanity and friendship amid the brutality of war.\n\nAbout the AuthorHailed by the Associated Press as “a masterful storyteller\,” Adam Makos is the New York Times bestselling author of A Higher Call\, Spearhead\, and Devotion—now a major motion picture starring Glen Powell. The Los Angeles Times places him “in the top ranks of military writers\,” a title earned through immersive research that has taken him from flying a World War II bomber to journeying into North Korea in search of a missing American aviator.
