The Georgia World War II Heritage Trail today announced the introduction of its Affiliate Partner Program, inviting museums, historic sites, and community organizations across the state to join in preserving and sharing the stories of Georgia’s Greatest Generation.

The new program expands the reach of the Trail beyond its founding partner sites by recognizing additional locations that contribute to Georgia’s rich World War II history. Affiliate Partners will be listed on the Trail’s website, highlighted in social media promotions, and eligible to share their events through the Trail’s statewide calendar.

“From Savannah’s shipyards to the flight training fields of Albany and Douglas, every corner of Georgia has a story to tell about how our communities answered the call during World War II,” said Ed Coleman, Chair of the Georgia World War II Heritage Trail. “The aim of the Affiliate Partner Program is to help preserve those stories of Georgia’s Greatest Generation in communities throughout the state.”

Affiliate Partners must demonstrate a clear connection to Georgia’s WWII story through exhibits or experiences, maintain regular hours and a visitor-ready site, and provide up-to-date online information. Qualified organizations may apply for recognition through a brief application process and an annual listing fee of $35.

Current Trail members include 12 museums and heritage sites, from the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler to the Commemorative Air Force Airbase Georgia in Peachtree City. The Trail was established in 2021 and continues to grow through partnerships that educate, inspire, and connect visitors to the people and places that shaped the state’s wartime history.
