Three partner museums have been nominated in the Best Museum category of the 2025 “Best in Georgia” Awards by The Georgia Business Journal! These nominations are a testament to the incredible work being done by our member institutions to preserve and share the stories of the Greatest Generation.

Congratulations to:

  • Currahee Military Museum (Toccoa, GA)

  • Museum of Aviation at Robins AFB (Warner Robins, GA)

  • National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force (Pooler, GA)

Each of these museums brings a unique and powerful perspective on Georgia’s World War II history. From training camps and flight schools to the valor of America’s airmen and soldiers, these institutions serve as living classrooms for new generations to learn from the past.

These nominations follow two major national recognitions earlier this year:

  • In July 2025, the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force was honored with a Tripadvisor® Travelers’ Choice® Award, placing it among the top 10% of attractions worldwide based on visitor reviews.

  • In February 2025, the National Infantry Museum in Columbus earned the title of Best Free Museum in the U.S. for the seventh consecutive year by USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards.

These honors reflect the quality, professionalism, and dedication of the all-volunteer and staff-led teams that power the Georgia WWII Heritage Trail. Our 12 partner museums collaborate year-round to share untold stories, host community events, and foster heritage tourism across the state and Southeast.
